Neonatal Age Origin Gap Tool

Compare explicit research age origins and units without corrected-age or care guidance.

Loading tool…

Description

Divide eventTime minus each supplied origin by positive timeUnitsPerDay.

Age is a difference between an event and a selected origin. Gestational, chronological, corrected, and source-record coordinates can differ even when expressed in the same time unit.

Divide eventTime minus each supplied origin by positive timeUnitsPerDay.

When to use this tool

Use Neonatal Age Origin Gap when you need to compare explicit age origins or recorded time coordinates.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter eventTime, birthOrigin, sourceOrigin, timeUnitsPerDay. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read ageFromBirthDays, ageFromSourceDays, originGapDays. Use the output convention below.

Divide eventTime minus each supplied origin by positive timeUnitsPerDay. Return both age bases and sourceOrigin minus birthOrigin on the same day scale.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No epoch, timezone, or preferred clinical age origin is inferred; signed differences are allowed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep the original timestamps and age definitions, and confirm the intended convention with the relevant clinical or research protocol.
