Description
Use answered plus unanswered when countUnanswered is true as denominator, otherwise answered alone.
A share divides an included amount by a declared total. An empty total is mathematically different from an observed zero share and may require an explicit availability flag.
Use answered plus unanswered when countUnanswered is true as denominator, otherwise answered alone.
When to use this tool
Use Evidence Unanswered Item Base when you need a proportion with a clearly defined denominator.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter answered, unanswered, excluded, countUnanswered. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominator, unansweredCount, completion, defined, excludedCount. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Use answered plus unanswered when countUnanswered is true as denominator, otherwise answered alone. Return excluded separately and divide answered by a positive denominator.1

| completion | Completion | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the accompanying numeric result has an available denominator or required inputs. | Required. Boolean. |
| excludedCount | Excluded Count | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Excluded never enters the denominator; a zero denominator produces completion zero and defined false, not evidence of no completed items.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the underlying counts or quantities and report missing-denominator cases separately when aggregating results.
