Birth Record Partial Minute Envelope Tool

Represent a supplied absolute-minute birth timestamp as an exact second or truncated minute envelope.

Description

Convert wholeMinute to seconds.

Age is a difference between an event and a selected origin. Gestational, chronological, corrected, and source-record coordinates can differ even when expressed in the same time unit.

Convert wholeMinute to seconds.

When to use this tool

Use Birth Record Partial Minute Envelope when you need to compare explicit age origins or recorded time coordinates.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter wholeMinute, knownSecond, secondKnown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read lowerSecond, upperSecond, upperExclusive. Inspect upperExclusive before interpreting the associated values.

Convert wholeMinute to seconds. If secondKnown is true, both endpoints add knownSecond; otherwise return the full minute from offset zero to 60 with upperExclusive true.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • An unknown second creates a half-open interval, not a measured timestamp or probability distribution.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep the original timestamps and age definitions, and confirm the intended convention with the relevant clinical or research protocol.
