Description
For nonnegative integer start and end, clip both to positive horizon and subtract for included.
Time-window accounting separates gross duration, overlap, pauses, and eligible exposure. A fraction is interpretable only when its numerator and denominator use compatible intervals and units.
For nonnegative integer start and end, clip both to positive horizon and subtract for included.
When to use this tool
Use Forecast Overlap Horizon Weight when you need to reconcile explicit durations or interval support.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter start, end, horizon. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read included, weight. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative integer start and end, clip both to positive horizon and subtract for included. Divide by horizon for weight.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| start | Start | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| end | End | Required. Safe integer. |
| horizon | Horizon | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| included | Included | Required. Safe integer. |
| weight | Weight | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This measures half-open index-span overlap with [0, horizon), without inclusive endpoint increments or forecast accuracy weighting.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use timestamped intervals to calculate overlap unions when summed durations and supplied corrections are insufficient.
