Description
Subtract duplicateRoles from creditedRoles and divide the resulting uniqueRoles by positive totalRoles.
Media proportions depend on whether the denominator includes excluded material, inaudible markers, duplicated roles, or only eligible duration. These choices answer different analytical questions.
Subtract duplicateRoles from creditedRoles and divide the resulting uniqueRoles by positive totalRoles.
When to use this tool
Use Credits Duplicate Role Share when you need a media-study proportion with an explicit counting basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter creditedRoles, duplicateRoles, totalRoles. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read uniqueRoles, share. Use the output convention below.
Subtract duplicateRoles from creditedRoles and divide the resulting uniqueRoles by positive totalRoles. Require unique roles no greater than the total.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| creditedRoles | Credited Roles | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| duplicateRoles | Duplicate Roles | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| totalRoles | Total Roles | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| uniqueRoles | Unique Roles | Required. Safe integer. |
| share | Dimensionless fraction under the stated denominator policy. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Duplicate counts are supplied rather than deduplicated; this measures role coverage, not contributor identity or prominence.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
