Description
Use sequenceDuration or sequenceDuration - excludedDuration as denominator according to excludeMarked, then divide shotDuration by it.
Media proportions depend on whether the denominator includes excluded material, inaudible markers, duplicated roles, or only eligible duration. These choices answer different analytical questions.
Use sequenceDuration or sequenceDuration - excludedDuration as denominator according to excludeMarked, then divide shotDuration by it.
When to use this tool
Use Shot Duration Proportion when you need a media-study proportion with an explicit counting basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter shotDuration, sequenceDuration, excludedDuration, excludeMarked. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominator, proportion. Use the output convention below.
Use sequenceDuration or sequenceDuration - excludedDuration as denominator according to excludeMarked, then divide shotDuration by it.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Shot duration must fit the eligible duration even when exclusions are not applied; this does not identify shots or assess editorial meaning.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
