Adstock Single State Update

Update one explicit unnormalized geometric adstock state using supplied retention and current spend without fitting a response model.

Description

Update one supplied adstock state under a fixed retention fraction.

Campaign bookkeeping distinguishes actual records from supplied rules, discounts, retention assumptions and spending periods. Sequential discounts compound on changing bases, while an adstock update depends on a declared period and retention factor. A click flag or local score term does not establish consent, causal response or financial performance.

Update one supplied adstock state under a fixed retention fraction.

When to use this tool

Use Adstock Single State Update when you already have previousState, currentSpend, suppliedRetentionFraction and need to update one supplied adstock state under a fixed retention fraction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter previousState, currentSpend, suppliedRetentionFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read updatedState. Use the output convention below.

Require previousState/currentSpend>=0 and retention in [0,1]; updatedState=currentSpend+retention*previousState.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The state convention and period are supplied; no retention is estimated and the update does not establish causal advertising effect or optimal spend.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review original campaign events, offer terms and financial records for actual charges and statuses. Fit and validate a complete model when estimating response or retention; one supplied rule, price delta or pacing term does not provide that evidence.
