Resource Allocation Weight Share Tool

Calculate resource allocation weight share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return weight / totalWeight and available times that share.

Weights, counts, and capacities determine an allocation only under a chosen normalization and rounding policy. A conserved total does not establish fairness or suitability.

Return weight / totalWeight and available times that share.

When to use this tool

Use Resource Allocation Weight Share when you need one explicit allocation or weight-change calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter weight, totalWeight, available. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read share, allocation. Use the output convention below.

Require weight in [0, totalWeight] with positive totalWeight and nonnegative available. Return weight / totalWeight and available times that share.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The total weight and capacity are supplied; indivisibility, fairness constraints, and allocations to other recipients are not checked.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check totals, indivisibility, eligibility, and policy constraints across all recipients or criteria.
