Milestone Weight Reassignment Residual Tool

Calculate milestone weight reassignment residual from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Sum each list and return newTotal - oldTotal as residual.

Weights, counts, and capacities determine an allocation only under a chosen normalization and rounding policy. A conserved total does not establish fairness or suitability.

Sum each list and return newTotal - oldTotal as residual.

When to use this tool

Use Milestone Weight Reassignment Residual when you need one explicit allocation or weight-change calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter oldWeights, newWeights. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read oldTotal, newTotal, residual. Use the output convention below.

Require aligned nonnegative oldWeights and newWeights. Sum each list and return newTotal - oldTotal as residual.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Weights need not sum to one; a zero residual does not prove that individual milestone allocations are unchanged or appropriate.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
