Budget Reserve Drawdown Balance Tool

Calculate budget reserve drawdown balance from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Subtract summed nonnegative draws from openingReserve and add nonnegative replenishments for closingReserve.

A reserve balance subtracts draws and adds replenishments over a reporting window. A closing balance can hide a temporary shortfall if transaction order is discarded.

Subtract summed nonnegative draws from openingReserve and add nonnegative replenishments for closingReserve.

When to use this tool

Use Budget Reserve Drawdown Balance when you need a supplied reserve drawdown and closing-balance term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter openingReserve, draws, replenishments. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read closingReserve, overdrawn. Inspect overdrawn before interpreting the associated values.

Subtract summed nonnegative draws from openingReserve and add nonnegative replenishments for closingReserve. Set overdrawn when draws exceed opening reserve plus replenishments.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is period-total accounting without transaction ordering, interest, restrictions, or currency rounding; temporary intraperiod overdrafts can be missed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile dated transactions and restrictions in the full budget ledger, including any required contingency policy.
