Description
Return ceil(length / size) chunks.
List-length arithmetic predicts how many positions a structural operation will create, discard, or leave unused. Empty lists and exact multiples need explicit counting conventions.
Return ceil(length / size) chunks.
When to use this tool
Use List Chunk Final Block Size when you need a list operation's count or padding budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter length, size. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read chunks, finalSize. Use the output convention below.
Return ceil(length / size) chunks. For nonempty input use ((length - 1) modulo size) + 1 as finalSize, otherwise zero.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| length | Length, count, or code length under the stated domain and unit convention. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| size | Size | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| chunks | Chunks | Required. Safe integer. |
| finalSize | Final Size | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- An exact multiple has a full final chunk, not size zero; no chunk arrays are generated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect actual list lengths and choose the operation's empty-input and tail policies before transforming values.
