List: List Pairwise Zip Tail Label Tool

Plan a truncating pairwise zip from two explicit lengths while retaining which side loses an unmatched tail; no list construction.

Description

Use the smaller length for pairedCount, positive length differences for the two tails, and label the longer side or none.

Zipping lists can stop at the shortest input or extend to the longest with fill values. Those policies trade discarded tails against missing-position padding.

Use the smaller length for pairedCount, positive length differences for the two tails, and label the longer side or none.

When to use this tool

Use List: List Pairwise Zip Tail Label when you need to compare zip output lengths and per-list losses or fills.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter leftLength, rightLength. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This predicts zip coverage without pairing actual records or selecting a tail policy.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Choose a missing-value and alignment policy before actually combining records from unequal lists.
