Trellis Vine Spacing End Margin Tool

Place the first vine at the left margin, then use fixed spacing without breaching the right margin.

Description

Subtract two end margins from length, divide by positive spacing, floor, and add one for plants.

Spacing calculations place ideal points or modules within a stated geometric extent. End margins, row patterns, and partial border positions affect the count.

Subtract two end margins from length, divide by positive spacing, floor, and add one for plants.

When to use this tool

Use Trellis Vine Spacing End Margin when you need an explicit planting or paving layout-count term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter length, endMargin, spacing. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read plants, usedSpan. Use the output convention below.

Subtract two end margins from length, divide by positive spacing, floor, and add one for plants. Return the interval count times spacing as usedSpan.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • An eligible span of zero still fits one planting point; plant growth, species suitability, and design regulations are not considered.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete site layout that includes boundaries, obstacles, growth, joints, and installation allowances.
