Passive Voice Percent Sentences Detector
Tally independently syntactically analyzed sentence passive evidence with unknowns excluded; not a be+participle regex falsely identifying adjectival predicates or automatic prose-quality diagnosis. Caller independently verifies context, evidence, reference edition and applicability; not factual authenticity, current legal advice or publication clearance.
Description
Passive-voice prevalence is a share of sentences already analyzed for grammatical voice.
Passive-voice prevalence is a share of sentences already analyzed for grammatical voice.1
Unknown analyses must be separated from known active sentences.

How to use Passive Voice Percent Sentences Detector and understand its results
- Establish the reviewed evidence, house style or applicable jurisdiction and dated reference.
- Enter independentlyAnnotatedPassiveSentenceFlags, knownSentenceAnalysisFlags, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read knownPassiveSentencePercent, knownSentenceAnalysisCount, unknownSentenceAnalysisIndices, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| independentlyAnnotatedPassiveSentenceFlags | Independently annotated passive sentence flags | list of number | Required |
| knownSentenceAnalysisFlags | Known sentence analysis flags; binary 1 means the matched observation is known, 0 means unknown | list of number | Required |
Use nonempty aligned binary passive annotations and known-analysis flags. At least one sentence must be known. Count known sentences, count passive among those, return 100×knownPassive/knownCount, and separately list zero-based unknown indices.
passivePercent=100×Σ(passive_i×known_i)/Σ known_i Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| knownPassiveSentencePercent | Known passive sentence percent | number |
| knownSentenceAnalysisCount | Known sentence analysis count | number |
| unknownSentenceAnalysisIndices | Unknown sentence analysis indices; zero-based positions in the relevant supplied record or adjacent-pair list; unresolved records kept separate from known results | list of number |

} Limitations and assumptions
No syntax or sentence detection is performed. The percentage applies to known annotated sentences, not automatically to the complete document, and does not diagnose prose quality.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above.
