Description
Divide nonnegative exports by positive imports for coverage.
A trade index or share compares values on a declared price, currency, period, and coverage basis. Changing a denominator or quote orientation can change the interpretation substantially.
Divide nonnegative exports by positive imports for coverage.
When to use this tool
Use Export Import Coverage Factor when you need an explicit trade-ratio or index component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter exports, imports. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read coverage. Use the output convention below.
Divide nonnegative exports by positive imports for coverage.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| exports | Exports | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| imports | Imports | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| coverage | Coverage | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use matching currency, period, and valuation; ratios above one are allowed and do not by themselves measure competitiveness or solvency.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
