Bilateral Trade Balance Component Tool

Compute one supplied bilateral trade-balance component under an explicit reexport policy.

Description

Subtract suppliedReexportDebit from exports only when includeReexports is false, then subtract imports for balance.

External-account identities reconcile flows, stocks, and explicit adjustments. Signed residuals are useful diagnostics but do not identify their cause or verify statistical classification.

Subtract suppliedReexportDebit from exports only when includeReexports is false, then subtract imports for balance.

When to use this tool

Use Bilateral Trade Balance Component when you need a transparent trade or external-account reconciliation term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter exports, imports, suppliedReexportDebit, includeReexports. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read adjustedExports, balance. Use the output convention below.

Subtract suppliedReexportDebit from exports only when includeReexports is false, then subtract imports for balance. Require the debit no greater than exports.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a bilateral balance under an explicit inclusion policy; origin, partner attribution, and statistical reporting conventions remain external.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile the full dataset with its accounting and valuation conventions before interpreting a balance or value-added estimate.
