Trade Flow Reexport Base Flag Tool

Separate supplied domestic and reexport flows in a common currency and period; zero gross flow has zero reexport share.

Description

Subtract reexports from grossExports only when includeReexports is false.

External-account identities reconcile flows, stocks, and explicit adjustments. Signed residuals are useful diagnostics but do not identify their cause or verify statistical classification.

Subtract reexports from grossExports only when includeReexports is false.

When to use this tool

Use Trade Flow Reexport Base Flag when you need a transparent trade or external-account reconciliation term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossExports, reexports, includeReexports. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read reportedExports, reexportShare. Use the output convention below.

Subtract reexports from grossExports only when includeReexports is false. Return reexports/grossExports or zero when gross exports are zero.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • At zero gross exports, zero share is a convention rather than a defined ratio; reexport classification and reporting rules are supplied.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile the full dataset with its accounting and valuation conventions before interpreting a balance or value-added estimate.
