Description
Divide mass by bulkVolume and tappedVolume for densities.
Powder density and sieve calculations depend on preparation, tapping, size boundaries, and reporting direction. Computing an index does not choose a validated procedure or acceptance category.
Divide mass by bulkVolume and tappedVolume for densities.
When to use this tool
Use Pharma Powder Bulk Tapped Density Gap when you need a supplied powder-density or sieve-data crosswalk.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter mass, bulkVolume, tappedVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read bulkDensity, tappedDensity, hausnerRatio, carrIndexPercent. Use the output convention below.
Divide mass by bulkVolume and tappedVolume for densities. Return bulkVolume/tappedVolume as hausnerRatio and 100 × (bulkVolume - tappedVolume)/bulkVolume as carrIndexPercent.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| bulkVolume | Bulk Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| tappedVolume | Tapped Volume | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| bulkDensity | Bulk Density | Required. Finite number. |
| tappedDensity | Tapped Density | Required. Finite number. |
| hausnerRatio | Hausner Ratio | Required. Finite number. |
| carrIndexPercent | Carr index in percent, using the bulk-volume denominator. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Volumes must be positive with bulk at least tapped; this computes indices without selecting powder-flow categories, test methods, or acceptance criteria.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Follow the applicable validated test method and interpret results against approved material-specific criteria.
