Description
Divide pairwise for utilizations and return their maximum, minimum, and range as imbalance.
Production capacity terms compare available time, demand, cycle time, and buffer use. A scalar average or count budget can hide task constraints and process variability.
Divide pairwise for utilizations and return their maximum, minimum, and range as imbalance.
When to use this tool
Use Station Workload Imbalance Gap when you need a transparent capacity, takt, or workload component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter workloads, availableTimes. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read utilizations, maximumUtilization, minimumUtilization, imbalance. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned nonempty workloads and positive availableTimes. Divide pairwise for utilizations and return their maximum, minimum, and range as imbalance.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use matching time units; utilization can exceed one and equal ratios need not mean equal absolute station loads.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
