Product Center Mass Shift One Part Tool

Calculate product center mass shift one part from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Multiply partMass/positive totalMass by signed displacement for shift and add it to originalCenter.

Ideal product geometry maps dimensions into lengths, areas, or coordinates under a stated shape model. A dimension ratio does not by itself establish manufacturability, strength, or usability.

Multiply partMass/positive totalMass by signed displacement for shift and add it to originalCenter.

When to use this tool

Use Product Center Mass Shift One Part when you need one explicit product-geometry component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter totalMass, originalCenter, partMass, displacement. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read newCenter, shift. Use the output convention below.

Multiply partMass/positive totalMass by signed displacement for shift and add it to originalCenter. Require partMass within totalMass.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This assumes one existing part moves without changing total mass or other parts; it is a one-axis center-of-mass shift, not stability analysis.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
