Description

Sum nonnegative partHeights and spacerHeights for stackHeight.

A signed fit margin compares available space with an object and explicit allowances. Volume sufficiency, radial gaps, and diametral clearance are different conditions.

Sum nonnegative partHeights and spacerHeights for stackHeight.

When to use this tool

Use Part Stack Height Residual when you need one transparent product fit or travel-margin term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter partHeights, spacerHeights, availableHeight. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read stackHeight, residual. Use the output convention below.

Sum nonnegative partHeights and spacerHeights for stackHeight. Subtract from availableHeight for residual.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative residual indicates geometric overrun; compression, tolerance stacking, loads, and assembly feasibility are not modeled.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check complete three-dimensional geometry, tolerances, materials, and operating conditions before judging actual fit or safety.
