Part Reuse Mass Share Tool

Calculate part reuse mass share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Require reusedMass between zero and positive totalMass and divide for share.

A material balance tracks input, output, recovery, and unaccounted quantities on a common mass basis. A recovered amount is not automatically suitable for reuse.

Require reusedMass between zero and positive totalMass and divide for share.

When to use this tool

Use Part Reuse Mass Share when you need a supplied material-reconciliation or reuse share.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reusedMass, totalMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read share. Use the output convention below.

Require reusedMass between zero and positive totalMass and divide for share.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
reusedMassReused MassRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
totalMassTotal MassRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
shareDimensionless fraction under the stated denominator policy.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a mass-based reuse proportion, not an environmental impact score or proof of material suitability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify measurements, losses, and material qualification before interpreting recovery as usable production input.
