Flow Gate Unknown Parent Budget Tool

Audit supplied parent-gate metadata counts without gating a cytometry file or identifying immune populations.

Description

Validate nonnegative event counts and excludedUnknown no greater than unknownParentEvents, with known plus unknown no greater than recordedEvents.

Immune-assay data can contain raw signals, blanks, gated event counts, dilution labels, and research thresholds. Their units and denominators differ, and arithmetic on supplied values is separate from assay validation or clinical interpretation.

Validate nonnegative event counts and excludedUnknown no greater than unknownParentEvents, with known plus unknown no greater than recordedEvents.

When to use this tool

Use Flow Gate Unknown Parent Budget when you need one transparent research-assay calculation or event-accounting check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordedEvents, knownParentEvents, unknownParentEvents, excludedUnknown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleKnown, unresolved, unassigned. Use the output convention below.

Validate nonnegative event counts and excludedUnknown no greater than unknownParentEvents, with known plus unknown no greater than recordedEvents. Return eligibleKnown, unresolved unknown minus excludedUnknown, and unassigned recorded remainder.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Unknown and unassigned are distinct bookkeeping groups; no parent gate, event identity, or missing-event mechanism is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete assay protocol, calibration, controls, uncertainty, and appropriate professional interpretation.
