Stream Current Meter Frequency Point Tool

Evaluate one supplied linear current-meter calibration segment v=a*f+b; no instrument calibration range is inferred.

Description

Divide nonnegative integer revolutions by positive durationSeconds for frequencyHz, then multiply by signed slope and add intercept for velocity.

Flow calculations relate volume, time, cross-section, velocity, and supplied model parameters. A local ratio or contribution does not by itself solve a complete hydraulic system.

Divide nonnegative integer revolutions by positive durationSeconds for frequencyHz, then multiply by signed slope and add intercept for velocity.

When to use this tool

Use Stream Current Meter Frequency Point when you need one explicit flow component with coherent units and references.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter revolutions, durationSeconds, slope, intercept. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read frequencyHz, velocity. Use the output convention below.

Divide nonnegative integer revolutions by positive durationSeconds for frequencyHz, then multiply by signed slope and add intercept for velocity.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Slope is velocity per Hz and intercept uses velocity units; calibration is supplied and negative velocities are retained, without meter-specific range or field-flow verification.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use surveyed geometry, appropriate calibration, and a complete hydraulic model for operational or design decisions.
