Description
Divide nonnegative length by positive speed for travelTime.
Flow calculations relate volume, time, cross-section, velocity, and supplied model parameters. A local ratio or contribution does not by itself solve a complete hydraulic system.
Divide nonnegative length by positive speed for travelTime.
When to use this tool
Use Catchment Travel Time One Reach when you need one explicit flow component with coherent units and references.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter length, speed. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read travelTime. Use the output convention below.
Divide nonnegative length by positive speed for travelTime.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| length | Length on the common unit basis stated above. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| speed | Speed | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| travelTime | Travel Time | Required. Finite number. |

"input": {
"length": 1200,

"output": {
"travelTime": 2400

} Limitations and assumptions
- Length and speed must use compatible units; constant speed is assumed and the result is not a complete catchment concentration time or routed arrival forecast.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use surveyed geometry, appropriate calibration, and a complete hydraulic model for operational or design decisions.
