Commute Window Exposure Fraction Tool

Time overlap with a supplied commute window without inferring environmental exposure intensity.

Loading tool…

Description

Return their nonnegative overlap and overlap divided by commute duration.

Spatial models compare distances, travel intervals, activity areas, or supplied interaction functions. Coordinates and model parameters must share a compatible basis, and a local term does not establish observed behavior.

Return their nonnegative overlap and overlap divided by commute duration.

When to use this tool

Use Commute Window Exposure Fraction when you need one explicit spatial or travel-model component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter commuteStart, commuteEnd, windowStart, windowEnd. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read overlap, fraction. Use the output convention below.

Require a positive commute interval and ordered exposure window. Return their nonnegative overlap and overlap divided by commute duration.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All endpoints share a time basis; the result is time overlap, not measured pollutant exposure, risk, or actual travel behavior.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check projection, route definitions, calibration, and the complete model before interpreting access or predicted flows.
