Tissue Microarray Core Missing Share Tool

Readable cores exclude lost and folded cores; other present but unreadable cores remain a separate residual count.

Description

Return planned-lost, readable/planned, and physically present minus readable.

Histology counting uses eligible objects, sampled areas, exclusions, and reference planes. The chosen denominator and boundary rules affect the result, while actual object identification and sampling validity require separate review.

Return planned-lost, readable/planned, and physically present minus readable.

When to use this tool

Use Tissue Microarray Core Missing Share when you need one supplied counting or support component under an explicit protocol.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter planned, lost, folded, readable. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read physicallyPresent, readableFraction, nonreadablePresent. Use the output convention below.

Require positive planned count and compatible disjoint lost, folded, and readable counts. Return planned-lost, readable/planned, and physically present minus readable.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • ReadableFraction uses all planned cores rather than only present cores; folded cores are included among nonreadable present, and diagnostic tissue adequacy is not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the full stereological or image-analysis method and appropriate professional interpretation before drawing a tissue conclusion.
