Description
Subtract their union and return the remaining fraction of coreArea.
Histology counting uses eligible objects, sampled areas, exclusions, and reference planes. The chosen denominator and boundary rules affect the result, while actual object identification and sampling validity require separate review.
Subtract their union and return the remaining fraction of coreArea.
When to use this tool
Use Tissue Core Unobserved Area Token when you need one supplied counting or support component under an explicit protocol.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter coreArea, unobservedArea, excludedArea, sharedArea. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read observableArea, observableFraction. Use the output convention below.
Require positive coreArea and nonnegative unobservedArea and excludedArea with valid sharedArea. Subtract their union and return the remaining fraction of coreArea.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| coreArea | Core Area | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| unobservedArea | Unobserved Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| excludedArea | Excluded Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| sharedArea | Shared Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| observableArea | Observable Area | Required. Finite number. |
| observableFraction | Observable Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Areas share units and overlap is supplied; observable area is not automatically representative, diagnostically adequate, or actually measured by image analysis.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
