Description
Split a supplied slide barcode at its last delimiter occurrence.
Histology records connect specimen/cassette/slide identity, section position, image calibration, stain references and evaluable area. Linear and area scales differ, and section pitch is not automatically thickness. Supplied measurements and labels do not inspect tissue, validate preparation or establish a diagnosis.
Split a supplied slide barcode at its last delimiter occurrence.
When to use this tool
Use Slide Barcode Block ID Split when you already have barcode, delimiter and need to split a supplied slide barcode at its last delimiter occurrence.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter barcode, delimiter. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read blockId, slideId. Use the output convention below.
Require delimiter nonempty and its last occurrence neither at the start nor ending the barcode; return the preceding blockId and following slideId.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| barcode | Barcode | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| delimiter | Nonempty separator; split at its final occurrence, leaving nonempty blockId and slideId. | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| blockId | Block Id | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| slideId | Slide Id | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"barcode": "BLOCK-A/SL3",
"delimiter": "/"
},
"output": {
"blockId": "BLOCK-A",
"slideId": "SL3"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Delimiters may contain multiple characters. No barcode decoding, escaping, specimen identity or authoritative identifier format is validated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile original specimen and processing records with calibrated images and the complete analytical method. Keep evaluable-area, control and section-depth definitions explicit; local ratios, identifier splits and nominal scales do not validate anatomical or diagnostic conclusions.
