Description
Label a supplied section thickness and its unit.
Histology records connect specimen/cassette/slide identity, section position, image calibration, stain references and evaluable area. Linear and area scales differ, and section pitch is not automatically thickness. Supplied measurements and labels do not inspect tissue, validate preparation or establish a diagnosis.
Label a supplied section thickness and its unit.
When to use this tool
Use Section Thickness Unit Label when you already have sectionId, thickness, unitText and need to label a supplied section thickness and its unit.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter sectionId, thickness, unitText. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read label. Use the output convention below.
Require sectionId/unitText nonempty and thickness>=0; format section; thickness=value unit.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| sectionId | Section Id | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| thickness | Thickness | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| unitText | Unit Text | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| label | Label | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

"input": {
"sectionId": "S17",
"thickness": 5,
"unitText": "um"
},
"output": {
"label": "S17; thickness=5 um"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The unit is unparsed and no section, thickness measurement, suitability or diagnostic content is assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile original specimen and processing records with calibrated images and the complete analytical method. Keep evaluable-area, control and section-depth definitions explicit; local ratios, identifier splits and nominal scales do not validate anatomical or diagnostic conclusions.
