Description
Sum nonnegative observerMinutes and divide by positive minutesPerHour.
Wildlife survey effort can use observer-hours, trap-nights, observation windows, or repeated visits. Equivalent effort applies a declared reporting rule and does not automatically correct detection probability.
Sum nonnegative observerMinutes and divide by positive minutesPerHour.
When to use this tool
Use Herpetofauna Survey Effort Hour Factor when you need one explicit herpetological survey-effort component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter observerMinutes, minutesPerHour. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read observerHours. Use the output convention below.

| minutesPerHour | Minutes Per Hour | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| observerHours | Observer Hours | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The conversion divisor is supplied, normally 60 for ordinary hours; summed observer effort is not elapsed survey time or a detection-adjusted sampling measure.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
