Description

Include uncertain slots in the denominator only when requested and return missingSlots and coverage.

Animal research counts and identifiers depend on observation, category, and sampling conventions. Unknown intervals, repeated IDs, and corrected signals should retain their distinct meanings rather than being silently treated as complete observations.

Include uncertain slots in the denominator only when requested and return missingSlots and coverage.

When to use this tool

Use Frog Call Pulse Missing Interval when you need a bounded count, timing, identifier, or supplied-reference component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedPulses, expectedSlots, uncertainSlots, includeUncertain. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read denominator, missingSlots, coverage. Use the output convention below.

Require positive expectedSlots, uncertainSlots within it, and observedPulses no greater than expected minus uncertain. Include uncertain slots in the denominator only when requested and return missingSlots and coverage.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Even included uncertain slots cannot increase the admissible observed-pulse count; this supplied coverage convention does not reconstruct uncertain calls or identify species.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original records and the full observation method before inferring abundance, species identity, or biological significance.
