Description
Return callDuration/windowDuration.
Wildlife survey effort can use observer-hours, trap-nights, observation windows, or repeated visits. Equivalent effort applies a declared reporting rule and does not automatically correct detection probability.
Return callDuration/windowDuration.
When to use this tool
Use Amphibian Call Window Share when you need one explicit herpetological survey-effort component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter callDuration, windowDuration. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read share. Use the output convention below.
Require positive windowDuration and callDuration within [0, windowDuration]. Return callDuration/windowDuration.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| callDuration | Call Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| windowDuration | Window Duration | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| share | Dimensionless share under the stated denominator and exclusion convention. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Durations share units; this is a supplied occupied-time share rather than pulse rate, detection probability, or a species diagnosis.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
