Amphibian Call Frequency Temperature Reference Tool

Linear call-frequency reference-temperature adjustment using an explicit independently calibrated slope.

Description

Add slopeHzPerDegree × (referenceTemperature-observedTemperature) for correctedHz.

Animal research counts and identifiers depend on observation, category, and sampling conventions. Unknown intervals, repeated IDs, and corrected signals should retain their distinct meanings rather than being silently treated as complete observations.

Add slopeHzPerDegree × (referenceTemperature-observedTemperature) for correctedHz.

When to use this tool

Use Amphibian Call Frequency Temperature Reference when you need a bounded count, timing, identifier, or supplied-reference component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedHz, observedTemperature, referenceTemperature, slopeHzPerDegree. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read temperatureDifference, correctedHz. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative observedHz and a nonnegative corrected result. Add slopeHzPerDegree × (referenceTemperature-observedTemperature) for correctedHz.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Temperatures share a scale and the slope is supplied rather than fitted; this linear reference adjustment does not establish species identity, physiology, or an appropriate correction model.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original records and the full observation method before inferring abundance, species identity, or biological significance.
