Torse Color Count Evenness Checker
Audit actual torse segment parity/two-colour alternation, not a universal required segment count.
Description
A torse uses an ordered sequence of color segments in a heraldic depiction.
A torse uses an ordered sequence of color segments in a heraldic depiction.1
Even segment count and two-color alternation are separate properties of that sequence.
When to use Torse Color Count Evenness Checker
Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
How to use Torse Color Count Evenness Checker and understand its results
- Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
- Enter annotatedTorseColorSequence, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result.colorCount, result.segmentCount, result.evenSegmentCount, result.alternatesTwoColors, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| annotatedTorseColorSequence | Annotated torse color sequence | list of string | Required |
Supply a nonempty sequence of nonblank exact color strings. Return segment count, distinct color count and whether the segment count is even. The two-color alternation flag requires exactly two distinct strings and every position from index two onward to equal the string two positions before it. An odd sequence can alternate while its evenness flag is false.
even=(N%2=0); alternatesTwo=(distinctColors=2 and ∀i≥2 color_i=color_(i−2)) Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Calculated observation or reference | object |
| result.colorCount | color Count | number |
| result.segmentCount | segment Count | number |
| result.evenSegmentCount | even Segment Count | boolean |
| result.alternatesTwoColors | alternates Two Colors | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
Colors are not checked against a tincture vocabulary or normalized. The alternating check is linear rather than a separate cyclic closure test, and no universal torse requirement is imposed.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related step, use Tincture to Modern RGB Reference Converter: Heraldic tinctures are named categories rather than one universally fixed RGB palette. For a complementary comparison, use Tincture Frequency Histogram Generator for a Roll: Tincture frequency can describe annotated occurrences in a declared corpus.
