Partition Line Count per Shield Edge Calculator
Count actual ordered partition intersections on a specified shield edge and retain remaining gap.
Description
Partition marks along an edge can be represented as ordered positions.
Partition marks along an edge can be represented as ordered positions.1
Their count and the final unmarked gap describe different aspects of the annotation.
When to use Partition Line Count per Shield Edge Calculator
Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
How to use Partition Line Count per Shield Edge Calculator and understand its results
- Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
- Enter observedPartitionEdgePositions, edgeLength, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result.intersectionCount, result.uncoveredEndGap, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedPartitionEdgePositions | Observed partition edge positions | list of number | Required |
| edgeLength | Edge length | number | Required |
Supply a nonempty strictly increasing list of nonnegative finite edge positions and a positive edge length. The last position cannot exceed the edge length. Return the number of supplied positions and edgeLength−lastPosition as the trailing gap.
partitionCount=positions.length; trailingGap=edgeLength−positions[last] Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Calculated observation or reference | object |
| result.intersectionCount | intersection Count | number |
| result.uncoveredEndGap | uncovered End Gap | number |

The tool counts annotated marks, not intervals or an unrecorded initial gap. It does not recognize partition lines from artwork.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
