Bendy Sinister Diagonal Stripe Counter

Count observed diagonal stripe intervals along caller perpendicular projection; no vertical-width substitution.

Description

Projected stripe edges define intervals along a chosen measurement axis.

Projected stripe edges define intervals along a chosen measurement axis.1

Counting intervals between recorded edges differs from adding unobserved boundary intervals.

When to use Bendy Sinister Diagonal Stripe Counter

Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.

How to use Bendy Sinister Diagonal Stripe Counter and understand its results

  1. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
  2. Enter projectedStripeEdgePositions, projectedFieldExtent, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
  3. Read result.observedStripeIntervals, result.trailingProjectedGap, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
  4. Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.

Use at least two strictly increasing nonnegative finite projected edge positions and positive field extent. Reject a last edge beyond that extent. Return positions.length−1 as the between-edge interval count and extent−lastEdge as the trailing gap.

betweenEdgeStripes=N−1; trailingGap=extent−lastEdge

Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

An initial unrecorded gap is not counted as another stripe, and the trailing gap is returned separately. No visual extraction, diagonal projection or clipped boundary inference is performed.

Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries; ordinary string lists allow at most 128 strings of 128 UTF-16 units each; numeric matrices allow at most 128 rows and 128 columns, subject to narrower requirements above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a related step, use Partition Line Count per Shield Edge Calculator: Partition marks along an edge can be represented as ordered positions. For a complementary comparison, use Per Bend Sinister Diagonal Path Generator: A per-bend-sinister division can be represented as a diagonal across a rectangular envelope.
