Description
Label the stated edge of a geographic graticule cell.
Geographic coordinates use explicit angular, axis and vertical-datum conventions. Unwrapped longitude difference differs from the shortest circular separation, and a north-based bearing differs from a rightward-zero screen rotation. Ellipsoidal and orthometric heights require a compatible geoid-undulation model.
Label the stated edge of a geographic graticule cell.
When to use this tool
Use Geographic Graticule Cell Edge Label when checking the stated geographic label, angular or height-reference convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter cellId, edgeWording, gridSource. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read token. Use the output convention below.
Require nonempty cell ID, edge wording and grid source. Encode the ordered triple as JSON text.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| cellId | Cell Id | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| edgeWording | Edge Wording | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| gridSource | Grid Source | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| token | JSON-encoded ordered tuple or literal token under the convention above; not a database lookup or authentication result. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"cellId": "CELL17",
"edgeWording": "north edge",
"gridSource": "Grid A"
},
"output": {
"token": "[\"CELL17\",\"north edge\",\"Grid A\"]"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- No graticule is loaded or edge geometry derived; the token does not determine coordinate order or geographic validity.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use authoritative coordinate/datum definitions and appropriate geodesic, projection and geoid models for actual locations, distances and height conversion.
