Paygap Included Bonus Base Flag Tool

Explicit first-group reference pay gap with a caller-selected bonus basis, without causal interpretation.

Description

Add bonuses only when includeBonus is true, then return both totals and one minus second total divided by first total as relativeGap.

A pay-gap fraction compares two pay quantities on a chosen denominator and inclusion basis. Bonuses, work periods, hours, and population definitions can change the comparison; a descriptive ratio does not establish the cause of a difference.

Add bonuses only when includeBonus is true, then return both totals and one minus second total divided by first total as relativeGap.

When to use this tool

Use Paygap Included Bonus Base Flag when you need an explicit pay-comparison convention using supplied amounts.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstBase, secondBase, firstBonus, secondBonus, includeBonus. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read firstTotal, secondTotal, relativeGap. Use the output convention below.

Require positive firstBase and nonnegative secondBase and both bonuses. Add bonuses only when includeBonus is true, then return both totals and one minus second total divided by first total as relativeGap.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All pay components share currency, period, and population basis. The fraction uses the first total as denominator, is not automatically a percentage, and does not adjust for hours, roles, or explanatory factors.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the applicable statistical or reporting methodology for a full pay-gap analysis. Align currency, pay period, hours, population, and included compensation before interpreting the descriptive comparison.
