Care Task Overlap Minute Correction Tool

Subtract an explicitly supplied inclusion-exclusion duplicate-time total rather than infer task simultaneity.

Description

Return the gross sum and gross minus supplied double counting as uniqueMinutes.

Survey display order, self-description, missingness, and record support are distinct research properties. Literal tokens and counts can preserve those distinctions without inferring a person's identity, preferences, or the meaning of an unprovided response.

Return the gross sum and gross minus supplied double counting as uniqueMinutes.

When to use this tool

Use Care Task Overlap Minute Correction when you need a transparent survey-record, display-order, or time-use calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter taskMinutes, doubleCountedMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read grossMinutes, uniqueMinutes. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative taskMinutes and doubleCountedMinutes between zero and the task sum. Return the gross sum and gross minus supplied double counting as uniqueMinutes.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The correction must be the total excess count, including appropriate adjustments for multiple overlaps. Actual task intervals are not inspected, so the result cannot independently verify unique time or classify care work.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the study's consent, vocabulary, missingness, and disclosure methodology for interpretation. Retain self-described information and assess sampling and privacy separately from local record arithmetic.
