Description
Convert wet-basis moisture fraction to water mass per dry mass.
Food-technology measurements distinguish ingredient/batch mass, wet- and dry-basis moisture, solids fractions, throughput and optical or mechanical coordinates. A mass scaling or local signal contribution does not validate a process, sensory outcome or safe product. Physical units and analytical bases must be explicit.
Convert wet-basis moisture fraction to water mass per dry mass.
When to use this tool
Use Food Powder Moisture Basis Crosswalk when checking the stated benign food-material, throughput, color or mechanical term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter wetBasisMoistureFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read dryBasisWaterPerDryMass. Use the output convention below.
Require wetBasisMoistureFraction in [0,1). Return moisture/(1-moisture) as water mass per dry mass.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| wetBasisMoistureFraction | Wet Basis Moisture Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; strictly below 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| dryBasisWaterPerDryMass | Water mass/dry mass, equal to wet fraction/(1-wet fraction); may exceed one. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Dry-basis water ratio can exceed one; this is a mass-basis conversion, not water activity, shelf-life prediction or a safe processing target.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
