Description
Calculate a coupon accrual fraction and remaining days on a supplied denominator.
Financial bookkeeping uses explicit invoice, credit, withholding, day-count and quote bases. A supplied deduction or rate defines an arithmetic scenario without determining actual contractual or tax rights. Discount reference shifts and prices per hundred face value need their own direction and unit conventions.
Calculate a coupon accrual fraction and remaining days on a supplied denominator.
When to use this tool
Use Coupon Accrual Denominator Remaining Days when checking the stated caller-defined balance, rate, accrual or quote convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter elapsedDays, periodDays. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read accruedFraction, remainingDays. Use the output convention below.
Require periodDays>0 and elapsedDays in [0,period]. Return elapsed/period accrued fraction and period-elapsed remaining days.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| elapsedDays | Elapsed day quantity within the positive period denominator; may be fractional. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| periodDays | Period Days | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| accruedFraction | Accrued Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| remainingDays | Remaining Days | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Day quantities may be fractional; no coupon amount, calendar, business-day adjustment or market day-count convention is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
