Description
Rebase a discounted cash-flow value using a signed reference-period shift.
Financial bookkeeping uses explicit invoice, credit, withholding, day-count and quote bases. A supplied deduction or rate defines an arithmetic scenario without determining actual contractual or tax rights. Discount reference shifts and prices per hundred face value need their own direction and unit conventions.
Rebase a discounted cash-flow value using a signed reference-period shift.
When to use this tool
Use Cashflow Discount Reference Shift when checking the stated caller-defined balance, rate, accrual or quote convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter discountedValue, suppliedPeriodicRate, referenceShiftPeriods. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read rebasedValue. Use the output convention below.
Require suppliedPeriodicRate>-1. Return discountedValue*(1+rate)^referenceShiftPeriods, allowing signed value and real period shift.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| discountedValue | Discounted Value | Required. Finite number. |
| suppliedPeriodicRate | Supplied Periodic Rate | Required. Finite number; strictly above -1. |
| referenceShiftPeriods | Signed real reference shift; a positive shift multiplies value by the supplied growth factor. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| rebasedValue | Rebased Value | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- A positive shift multiplies by the growth factor; rate/period convention and reference-date direction are supplied, not fitted or selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
