Description
Return origin+(index+optional half)×module.
Repeated pattern positions require an origin, repeat length and rounding policy. Counting complete repeats or rounding material up to a repeat does not determine matching between separate pieces or the position of real motifs.
Return origin+(index+optional half)×module.
When to use this tool
Use Pattern Notch Half Module Offset when you need a repeat, notch-grid or partial-panel calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter module, notchIndex, halfOffset, origin. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read position. Use the output convention below.
Require positive module and nonnegative integer notchIndex. Return origin+(index+optional half)×module.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| module | Module | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| notchIndex | Notch Index | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| halfOffset | Half Offset | Required. Boolean. |
| origin | Length coordinate on the same basis as module and returned position. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| position | Position | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Origin is a length coordinate, not an index. The result is not clipped to a pattern piece or verified against actual notch geometry.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Lay out the actual pieces and repeat phase in the intended fabric. Check direction, alignment, seam allowances and joins before cutting.
