Description
Floor-divide for whole repeats and return the remainder.
Repeated pattern positions require an origin, repeat length and rounding policy. Counting complete repeats or rounding material up to a repeat does not determine matching between separate pieces or the position of real motifs.
Floor-divide for whole repeats and return the remainder.
When to use this tool
Use Pleat Repeat Partial Panel Remainder when you need a repeat, notch-grid or partial-panel calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter panelWidth, repeatWidth. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read wholeRepeats, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative panelWidth and positive repeatWidth. Floor-divide for whole repeats and return the remainder.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| panelWidth | Panel Width | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| repeatWidth | Repeat Width | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| wholeRepeats | Whole Repeats | Required. Safe integer. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The pattern origin, matching alignment and seam allowances are not inferred. Binary arithmetic can affect boundary remainders for decimal lengths.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Lay out the actual pieces and repeat phase in the intended fabric. Check direction, alignment, seam allowances and joins before cutting.
