Garment Size Spec Single Tolerance Tool

Check one garment specification measurement against explicitly supplied asymmetric inclusive tolerances.

Description

Return measured minus nominal as deviation and test measured within nominal minus lowerTolerance through nominal plus upperTolerance, including both boundaries.

Garment and pattern calculations use measurements, allowances, fold conventions, and repeat positions. A local calculation is one pattern component; fabric behavior, fit, and manufacturing tolerances require separate assessment.

Return measured minus nominal as deviation and test measured within nominal minus lowerTolerance through nominal plus upperTolerance, including both boundaries.

When to use this tool

Use Garment Size Spec Single Tolerance when you need a bounded pattern, spacing, or allowance component using consistent length units.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter nominal, measured, lowerTolerance, upperTolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read deviation, withinTolerance. Inspect withinTolerance before interpreting the associated values.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use matching units; tolerances are supplied, asymmetric, and nonnegative, without deciding size grading, fit, or manufacturing acceptance policy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the complete pattern and test fit or material behavior before production.
