Description
Subtract positive bodyCircumference from nonnegative garmentCircumference for ease and divide by body times 100 for easePercent.
Garment and pattern calculations use measurements, allowances, fold conventions, and repeat positions. A local calculation is one pattern component; fabric behavior, fit, and manufacturing tolerances require separate assessment.

When to use this tool
Use Garment Ease Measurement when you need a bounded pattern, spacing, or allowance component using consistent length units.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bodyCircumference, garmentCircumference. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read ease, easePercent. Use the output convention below.

| bodyCircumference | Body Circumference | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| garmentCircumference | Garment Circumference | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| ease | Ease | Required. Finite number. |
| easePercent | Ease Percent | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative ease is allowed; stretch, measurement sites, material, comfort, and appropriate garment sizing are not assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
