Goods Receipt Quantity Tolerance Case Tool

Classify a goods receipt using explicit absolute under- and over-delivery tolerances, with inclusive allowed boundaries.

Description

Subtract orderedQuantity from receivedQuantity.

Stock quantities can be counted as individual units, packages, or capacity groups. Tolerance checks compare a signed discrepancy with supplied bounds; those bounds are an input policy rather than a measured certainty.

Subtract orderedQuantity from receivedQuantity.

When to use this tool

Use Goods Receipt Quantity Tolerance Case when you need a packing count or quantity comparison under a supplied capacity or tolerance.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter orderedQuantity, receivedQuantity, underTolerance, overTolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read variance, status. Use the output convention below.

Subtract orderedQuantity from receivedQuantity. Label variance below negative underTolerance as under-tolerance, above overTolerance as over-tolerance, and all boundary-inclusive remaining cases within-tolerance.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Tolerances are absolute quantity allowances, not percentages; the labels describe deviations outside supplied limits and do not determine acceptance policy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify physical counts and the applicable receiving policy before resolving a stock discrepancy.
