Randomization Block Remainder Budget Tool

Deterministic block accounting; this does not generate a random assignment.

Loading tool…

Description

Divide remaining count into blocks/remainder and compute steps from completed count to the next block boundary.

Trial records can encode conditions, response keys, inclusion masks and blind-code mappings. Literal membership and balanced counts describe the supplied records; they do not establish valid randomization, effective blinding or clinical conclusions.

Divide remaining count into blocks/remainder and compute steps from completed count to the next block boundary.

When to use this tool

Use Randomization Block Remainder Budget when you need a specified experimental-record or allocation-index check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter plannedTrials, blockSize, completedTrials. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read fullBlocks, remainder, trialsToNextBoundary. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative planned trials, positive block size and completed count no greater than planned. Divide remaining count into blocks/remainder and compute steps from completed count to the next block boundary.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • TrialsToNextBoundary is zero at a boundary and can exceed the trials remaining. This is accounting, without generating randomization or checking balance.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete experimental design, controlled mappings and source records. Validate actual randomization, permissions, missingness and analysis assumptions rather than inferring them from one token or count.
