Description
Add each index modulo condition count, then select the cyclic condition.
Trial records can encode conditions, response keys, inclusion masks and blind-code mappings. Literal membership and balanced counts describe the supplied records; they do not establish valid randomization, effective blinding or clinical conclusions.
Add each index modulo condition count, then select the cyclic condition.
When to use this tool
Use Experiment Counterbalance Latin Square Cell when you need a specified experimental-record or allocation-index check.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter conditions, participantIndex, trialIndex. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read condition, conditionIndex. Use the output convention below.
Require unique nonempty conditions and nonnegative integer participant/trial indexes. Add each index modulo condition count, then select the cyclic condition.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| conditions | Conditions | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| participantIndex | Zero-based participant position, not an automatically randomized assignment. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| trialIndex | Trial Index | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| condition | Condition | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| conditionIndex | Condition Index | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Indexes are zero based. This gives one cyclic Latin-square cell, not randomization or a guarantee of balanced higher-order carryover and actual participant allocation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the complete experimental design, controlled mappings and source records. Validate actual randomization, permissions, missingness and analysis assumptions rather than inferring them from one token or count.
